Interpretation of academic, deep analysis of the topic- Professor Xiang Jiuyu on “the Science and road of academic selection”
On the evening of December 16th, a lecture on “The Science and Road of Academic selection ” hosted by the Marxist Academy was held in the Academic Report Hall on the first floor of the Yucai Building. The lecture invited Professor Xiang Jiuyu, Honorary Dean of the Institute of Marxism and Second Professor of Wuhan University, to attend the lecture. Professor Deng Bin, Dean of the Institute of Marxism, served as the moderator of the lecture, and the guests attended the lecture were Associate Professor Xie Jun of the Academy of Marxism, Associate Professor Bai Qin, Associate Professor Jin Jiaxin and Associate Professor Zhu Haijia.
At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Xiang Jiuyu presented the main content of his lecture to the students with an outline. He first talked about the accumulation of knowledge, and explained the difference between explicit knowledge and hidden knowledge, and proposed to strengthen the "hidden knowledge education". In the basic method of exploring problems, he said that learn to find problems, analyze problems, explore problems, solve problems, expand in reading, in practice understanding, in the context of expression. On how to grasp the problem, Professor Xiang Jiuyu put forward: We should grasp the problem on the macro, pay attention to the problem-oriented, grasp in the orientation, in the logical development. He then cites Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time as an example of a detailed explanation of the meaning of each title and its logical relationship. In terms of the key points of choice, he proposed that the topic of the thesis should be pioneering and advanced, and took Marx's high school graduation thesis as an example, expounded Marx's general view and advanced nature in the selection of topics, which caused the students to think about the key points of academic research.
Finally, Deng Bin came to the stage to summarize the key points of the selection of the topic as "special", "fine" and "top" three levels, and stressed the new meaning of the topic, the accuracy of the problem, the quality of the literature. Students combined with their own thoughts on the questions raised, Professor Xiang Jiuyu carefully to answer. Students have benefited greatly and have a deeper understanding of Chinese academic research and topic selection.
